About US Map Games
US Map Games helps students and adults learn where the 50 states are. Explore first, practice at your own pace, or check what you know with a self-test.
US Map and State Data Sources
- US Census Bureau cartographic boundaries: 2025 state boundaries at 1:5,000,000 scale, converted to our own SVG map.
- US Census regions: Northeast, Midwest, South and West. These are not necessarily the groupings your school uses.
- Minnesota Legislature reference, State Capitals: printed page 515 (PDF page 517). Capital names are reference facts, not current population data. Saint Paul is also commonly written St. Paul.
Reference data checked November 3, 2026. Government data sources do not imply government endorsement.
Type, icons and artwork
Interface type uses Baloo 2 and Nunito Sans, served locally. UI icons use Phosphor. The small map mark and pin character are original AI-generated assets created for this project. Baloo 2 license · Nunito Sans license · Phosphor license.
Map Scale and Geographic Limitations
Alaska and Hawaii are repositioned insets with different scales. The map is not suitable for navigation or comparing land area. Washington, D.C. and US territories are not among the 50 states in this game.
What a score tells you
A result describes one round, not permanent mastery. Self-tests run on your device and are not certified exams or cheat-proof competitions.
